Soufra

The unlikely and wildly inspirational story of intrepid social entrepreneur, Mariam Shaar – a generational refugee who has spent her entire life in the Burj El Barajneh refugee camp just south of Beirut, Lebanon. Follow Mariam as she sets out against all odds to change her fate by launching a successful catering company, “Soufra,” and then expand it into a food truck business with a diverse team of fellow refugee woman who now share this camp as their home.<div><div><br></div><div>Joining the Portland love of food trucks, the timing of the current world affairs, and the fact that Soufra's director Thomas Morgan is coming to Portland, this event at Living Room Theater is being produced to provide Portlanders with a chance to learn about refugees in Lebanon, celebrate entrepreneurism and multiculturalism, and discuss the importance of sharing different stories through film.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>This event is produced by Outstanding in Oregon and co-hosted with the City Club of Portland's Arts &amp; Culture Committee, with the generous support of Thomas Morgan.</div></div>DocumentaryPT1H13M2026-10-08LBar
