DARKEST HOUR, a Focus Features presentation of a Working Title Films Production. A thrilling and inspiring true story begins on the eve of World War II as, within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill (Academy Award nominee Gary Oldman) must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation. As the unstoppable Nazi forces roll across Western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent, and with an unprepared public, a skeptical King, and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, rally a nation, and attempt to change the course of world history.

"Across the veil of years, we have seen tall Churchills, obese Churchills, sloppy Churchills, gross Churchills and scowling bull dog Churchills, and yet not one movie or TV Churchill has come close to giving us the man in full, both in look and spirit, until Gary Oldman in Darkest Hour."
Mick LaSalle - SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE

"It is always Gary Oldman's phenomenal performance that keeps the film airborne."
Rex Reed - NEW YORK OBSERVER

"It’s a deliciously unsubtle testament to the power of words and their infinite capacity to inspire."
David Ehrlich - INDIEWIRE

"While Gary Oldman's phenomenal work as Winston Churchill had been heralded in advance, it is astonishingly equaled by the film's achievements in direction, screenwriting, score and cinematography."
Godfrey Chesire - ROGEREBERT.COM

"A gripping account of a pivotal moment in the early days of World War II, grounded by an Oscar-worthy performance by Oldman. "
Calvin Wilson - ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

"Gary Oldman is terrific as Churchill, conveying the babyishness of his oddly unlined face in repose, the slyness and manipulative good humour, and a weird deadness when he is overtaken with depression."
Peter Bradshaw - THE GUARDIAN
